The 25-year-old actress plays Chani in the film adaptation of Frank Herbert’s novel, and many fans assumed it was one of the bigger roles in the film.

However, after Vulture reported over the weekend that Zendaya is only in seven minutes of the two-hour, 35-minute film, many took to Twitter to lash out.

Lack of Zendaya: Warner Bros. released his highly anticipated Dune this weekend in both theaters and on HBO Max, although some fans were quite disappointed by a serious lack of actress Zendaya

Zendaya’s character Chani has intertwined her fate with Timothee Chalamet’s Paul Atreides, with both actors revealing in several press interviews that they became “best friends” on set.

While fans may have assumed her presence in the marketing and press interviews, she’s only seen and heard about seven minutes into the film, though it’s clear she’ll most likely play a much bigger role in the sequel, which is still is not the case. We don’t have an official green light from Warner Bros. yet.

Still, the potential promise of more Zendaya in the sequel didn’t stop fans from venting their frustration on Twitter.

Despite her limited screen time, which the film largely books up, with Chani coming to Paul Atreides in visions, fans still thought she stole the film.

“It only took Zendaya 7 minutes to steal the whole damn movie anyway,” said Twitter user @dumas1000.

@itsnotjess123 added ‘The new Dune TV spot was 90% Zendaya, they lure everyone so hard.’
