What would YOU change about your partner? Women line up their annoyances – from putting empty milk cartons back in the fridge to loudly blowing their noses and making a whole pot of tea for just one cup

  • British woman asked Mumsnet users what they would change about their husband
  • One of the annoyances is that the man doesn’t empty his pockets before washing clothes
  • Comments added snoring, unwillingness to spend money and not doing chores

While many of us are willing to compromise in relationships, this thread will make you think twice about the little nasty things your partner is guilty of — because they can eventually become unbearable.

Post anonymously on a UK based forum mumsnet, women have expressed annoyances at their partners, from not knowing how to iron clothes to loud snoring.

The thread started after a woman admitted she had a list of little things she would change about her husband, including emptying pockets before clothes go in the wash.

Others were quick to share their annoyances, from putting empty bottles back on the bathroom shelf instead of recycling, to leaving a single sheet of toilet paper on the roll and not filling the dishwasher properly.

One woman started the discussion and said, “This isn’t meant to be taken too seriously. I have read/tried this book/approach with small habits. I find it helpful and thought about changes my husband might make.

“The changes I would make: empty pockets before turning on the washing machine, lock the door when you leave the house and don’t use the shared laptop when searching/buying stuff online, we all see it!”

A flood of comments on the post sparked frustration at the amount of noise their partner is making.

Another said: Blow your sound quieter. For the love of God. It’s the first sound I hear every morning. A very exuberant hoot. It’s so annoying’

“Noisy food, stop slurping,” added a third.

Others expressed frustration at the mess their partners had made, with one writing, “Throw out about 2/3 of his stuff. He has loads and it would be so much more comfortable and tidy if he had less.

‘Clean up himself when he cooks. I don’t mind loading the dishwasher, but when I cook, I clean up as I go along. He never, ever does.’

Another said: ‘I’d like him to stop intentionally leaving one sheet of toilet paper on the roll so he doesn’t have to replace it. He’s pretty great, but that annoys me.’

A third wrote: ‘Learn to load the dishwasher. How can a man running a successful business just not understand that water has to get by what you put in it.’

Other bug bears included not closing the drawers and putting dirty laundry on the basket or on the floor instead of the trash can, while being annoyed by her husband making a whole pot of tea and drinking only one cup.

Meanwhile, multiple posters said they wish their husband would spend even a few seconds looking for something before turning to them to ask where it is.

A very disgruntled woman let go with a flood of complaints saying, ‘Stop eating like a pig chewing bones, it’s absolutely disgusting. Clean up yourself/children.

‘Doing homework. doing laundry. Learn to iron. Learn to cook including making your own lunch. Think about my feelings at least once a week.

“Have a purpose in life other than sitting in front of the TV. Take me out and really talk to me (no covid times). Oh and like other posters, grow a few inches and add some girth’
