Tracey Spicer reveals mental health struggles and says she suffered from crippling anxiety attacks that caused her to pass out TWICE on TV










Tracey Spicer has revealed she suffers from panic attacks so severe she passed out on television.

In the latest issue of Body+Soul Magazine, the 54-year-old said her early days on screen were plagued with fear.

“It started with palpitations. Then clammy hands and cold feet,” she explained.

“The last thing I remember is feeling lightheaded before collapsing on the studio floor. During my first weekend on metropolitan television, I passed out.

“Not once, but twice. Foolishly, I agreed to come back a second night after this disastrous opening act to present the weather segment.”

Tracey says she learned to deal with her anxiety over time and it didn’t get in the way of her career.

“Despite setting the bar extremely low in the early 1990s, I’ve sustained a 30-year career in media learning to deal with performance nerves, panic attacks, and sometimes crippling anxiety,” she told the magazine.

Tracey discussed her battle with anxiety in her 2017 book, The Good Girl Stripped Bare — and the family history she inherited.

“In my book, I wrote about my beloved father’s challenges with depression and anxiety,” she said at the time.

Since her early passing out, the media personality says she has managed to take her anxiety to “low levels.”

Tracey is a Walkley Award-winning journalist who rose to fame as a newsreader on Ten Eyewitness News.

She and her cameraman husband, Jason Thompson, have a daughter, Gracie, and a son, Taj.
