TOWIE star Kirk Norcross found his father Mick hanged in his Essex mansion after he hammered his way in through windows after predicting his suicide a week earlier due to money worries and the stress of the lockdown, it turns out from a survey today.

Mr Norcross, who was the beloved owner of Essex nightclub Sugar Hut, was found dead at his home in Brentwood Road, Bulphan, on January 21 this year at the age of 57.

His death sparked an outpouring of grief from his family, friends and fellow TOWIE stars who revealed he was depressed and lost huge amounts of money on various real estate developments. He sold three cars, got a loan for his childhood home and cashed in on his private pension, his girlfriend said, adding: “He believed he was being conspired against.”

CCTV showed a concerned Kirk who arrived at his father’s house at around 3pm – an hour after Mick was last seen – first using a ladder to see into a bedroom before reaching for a hammer and making his way through several Windows.

After Mr Norcross was found and paramedics arrived, CPR was begun and continued “unsuccessfully” for some time, police called to the scene said at this afternoon’s hearing.

Kirk told the coroner at the Chelmsford Inquest today that he had prayed for his father and even bought him some lottery scratch cards to give him ‘hope’ that he could overcome the financial difficulties, saving him more than £2, 3 million in loans and other debts.

His son also said Mick ‘changed’ during the initial Covid-19 lockdown, saying: ‘He seemed down and depressed and seemed to have a black cloud over his head’.

Kirk even predicted to a friend that his father might end his life, saying, “I could lose my dad this week,” after hearing his dad say to partner Samantha Keahey, “I don’t think I’ll get through this, Sam. ‘ . And hours before his death, Mick tweeted: “At the end, remind yourself that you did your best. And that’s good enough’.

Kick said in a statement: “I went to see a friend and I told him I feel like I could lose my dad this week. I don’t know why I told him I just felt it in my head.

‘I hoped I bought two scratch cards for my father on the way back. I went and prayed for my father. I then took a nap and woke up and I had two missed calls from daddy’s partner and text asking where Mick was.”

After forcing his way into the property, Kirk found his father dead shortly after.

In a statement read by the coroner, Mr Norcross’s partner, Sam, said Mick had serious money problems and became sleepy as he had to provide for his family.

He had a £1.36 million bank loan and a bridging loan for his mansion in Essex and a further £1 million needed to complete a development, believed to be a luxury property near his home.

His partner Sam told the inquest: “Since all these projects were overrun during the 2020 course, he has sold three of his cars.

“I was also aware that he was taking his private pension early and that he may have run out of money to support himself due to large monthly expenses.

“It was this time in October 2020 that I noticed a change in Mick. He believed that he was being plotted against him. We shared everything with each other, we had endless convos and I know this was a heavy burden on his mind. I knew he was losing sleep when he told me.”

Essex Police Inspector Neil Armstrong described CCTV footage from the mansion showing that Mick was last seen leaving his home office at 1:37 p.m.

He said: ‘He was picked up by a second camera that entered the main residence at the end of the building.

He was wearing the same Barbour-style jacket from which the cell phone was found.

‘An hour later, the family could be seen in the courtyard looking through the windows of the residence.

“At 2:46 p.m., they entered the house, including Kirk. Kirk used a ladder to look in the bedroom window.

Kirk runs past the office and reappears with something that apparently would have been used with a hammer to force entry by smashing windows.

‘At 3:01 p.m. the family enters the pool house and leaves the house at 3:03 p.m. They seemed upset when they left.’
