Tory MP Natalie Elphicke forced into creeping climb down after attack on England ace Marcus Rashford

A Tory backbencher was forced to return today after a gruesome own goal attack on England star Marcus Rashford over his missed Euro 2020 penalty.

Dover MP Natalie Elphicke suggested the Manchester United star should have practiced mocking kicks during the lockdown rather than campaigning for free meals for underprivileged schoolchildren.

She made the comment in a Tory MP WhatsApp group following the Three Lions’ Euro 2020 defeat on penalties against Italy at Wembley last night.

Manchester United striker Rashford was one of three England players to miss in the decisive shoot-out in the Three Lions’ first major final in 55 years.

In a message first revealed by GB News, Ms Elphicke told other Tories: ‘They lost – wouldn’t it be generous to suggest that Rashford should have spent more time perfecting his game and less time on play politics.(sic)’

But today, after her comments were leaked and widely criticized, she took to Twitter to praise the team.

“Last night I shared the frustration and heartbreak of millions of English fans,” she said.

“The team gave everything. Congratulations and on to the World Cup!’

Labor’s Warrington North MP Charlotte Nichols replied: ‘If Natalie Elphicke has fed as many hungry children as Marcus Rashford, or has done so much to inspire the nation, she can knock him off anything she wants.

“But until then, pipe down and wind your neck in.”

Greater Manchester MP Barbara Keeley added: ‘Marcus Rashford campaigned for millions of children last year to ensure they were not left hungry by this Tory government during the pandemic.

“He is a great ambassador for our country on and off the pitch. People in Greater Manchester and across the country are very proud of him.”

A Tory MP told MailOnline there were about 200 MPs in the group Ms Elphicke posted to.

“It may be something many people have thought, but probably best not to go there. It’s pretty depressing that we can’t have conversations with each other,” they said.

Ms Elphicke, a 50-year-old mother of two, has been an MP for Dover since 2019, when she replaced her current ex-husband Charlie, who was jailed last year for three sexual assaults on two women.

Rashford was awarded an MBE in October last year in recognition of his work in feeding underprivileged children, including forcing Boris Johnson to turn around providing free school meal vouchers to 1.3 million children during the summer holidays.

England’s players are spending their final hours at the team’s hotel today, looking devastated as they returned from Wembley last night from their heartbreak in Euro 2020, as millions of supporters nurse sore heads and broken hearts, declaring: ‘The whole country has a hangover’.

The final with Italy ended in 1-1 after extra time, but three missed goals by Rashford, Jadon Sancho and Bukayo Saka handed the trophy to the Azzurri and saw the Three Lions miss out on their first major tournament win since 1966.

Fans are still coming to terms with the dramatic end of the match which was watched by some 70,000 spectators at Wembley, with roads and railways abandoned as people stayed home today.

A total of 31.1 million people watched the game at home – the third highest TV audience in British history – while millions more watched it in pubs, bars and fan parks across the country.

After the biggest football game in the country in 55 years, the England team led by Harry Kane were on the pitch in tears, but their manager Gareth Southgate took responsibility for the defeat. He said, ‘That is my responsibility. I chose the guys to take the kicks. I told the players that no one is alone in that situation. We win and lose together as a team. They’ve been tight all along and that’s how it should stay.”

Harry Kane said, ‘The boys couldn’t have given more. Of course it will hurt for a while, but we are on the right track and hopefully we can make progress from next year.’

The defeat led to horrific beatings against the three black players who missed penalties – and Scotland Yard is now investigating after idiots bombarded them on Twitter and Instagram with despicable posts featuring racist tropes, including banana and monkey emojis, with a Savills estate agent, who now expected to lose his job and stated ‘N****rs have ruined it for us’.

Boris Johnson and Prince William are among those who condemn the racists and urge police to arrest them and ensure they are prosecuted.

  1. I’m ashamed to have this horrible person in parliament. How can her constituents bear to have such a disgusting smug and uncaring wretch as their representative – it’s nauseating.
