American Ken added: ‘After taking a few random photos of the tent with sunset, I sighted the shadow of the poles present in the photo.

‘Projected by my freestanding speed-lights that was still on around the dance floor.

‘And it immediately triggered me with an idea of filling the blank tent canvas with the shadow of people, especially the couple.

‘I then ran back to the dance floor to ask my second photographer to keep only one of the speed-lights on.

‘Bring it down close to the ground level and adjust its light plane aligned to the ceiling of the tent passing through the couple dancing alone on the floor.

‘This photo became one of the most cherished and embraced wedding photos by the couple and those who were and were not at the wedding.’

James Simmons, last year’s Grand Winner and one of six judges of 2021 Awards – commented on Fabio Mirulla’s winning image saying: ‘Such a unique image that works on so many levels.

‘The photographer has taken the ‘earring moment’ in your average setting and elevated it with the use of composition, timing, and humour to be a masterful piece of visual communication.

‘The design, content and story are on point, which allows the viewer to extract an interesting narrative from the scene’

Luke Simon, International Wedding Photographer of the Year Awards Curator, says:

‘The awards are continuing to provide a unique platform for wedding

photographers to have their best images reviewed and judged by our team of highly awarded and experienced educators and photographers.’
