Emma Raducanu will have to play in an empty stadium at Transylvanian Open next month with record-breaking cases in Romania – her father’s homeland – as US Open champion searches for a new title











Emma Raducanu’s first appearance in her father’s homeland will be played in front of empty stands.

The Transylvanian Open announced that due to a ‘last-minute’ Covid-related decision by the Romanian government, fans will not be allowed into next week’s tournament. Cases of the virus are at record levels in the country.

In addition to the US Open champion, local fans will now be denied the chance to see Romanian superstar and 2019 Wimbledon champion Simona Halep.
