Sara Davis has obtained permission from pro partner Aljaž Škorjanec’s wife, Janette Manrara, to replicate Katya Jones and Adam Peaty’s near-kiss that shocked viewers of Strictly last Saturday.

The 37-year-old Dragon’s Den star was told to treat the professional dancer “as if he were yours” by the new It Takes Two presenter who urged her to say, “I’m good at it, your man is good with it, you have to be good with it.’

Businesswoman Sara, who has been married for 14 years and shares two children with husband Simon, says she refuses to hold back this week as she performs an intimate rendition of the Rumba with Aljaž on Shania Twain’s You’re Still The One.

‘I gotta embrace it’: Strictly star Sara Davis has gotten permission from pro partner Aljaž Škorjanec’s wife, Janette Manrara, to replicate Katya Jones and Adam Peaty’s near-kiss

Sara told MailOnline: ‘At the beginning of the series, knowing I had to do a Rumba, I thought oh my God, I’m scared if I have to do that. I thought how am I going to do that?

‘I also became friends with his wife; millions of people will watch, how am I going to do that?

“But because we’re in week five and I’ve become such good friends and I’m so close to him, I now know that if I don’t give it my all and don’t do it like this, I’ll drop him. The feeling of abandoning him is so much worse than letting that little bit of myself go.

“Janette gave me the right to talk about it. She said, ‘Look Sara, you have to look him in the eye and imagine that my husband is actually your man and imagine it’s Simon and dance to it like it’s him.’ She said, “I’m good at it, Simon is good at it, you must be good at it.”

Sara even has the approval of dancer Janette’s mother, who warned her not to “spoil” the routine known for its sensual hip movements by hesitating.

She added: “Her mom was on FaceTime talking to me in her native language and Janette was translating and she said, ‘Just go for it, don’t hold back or you’ll ruin the dance.’

“Aljaž’s mother-in-law has told me to embrace this so I don’t disappoint anyone.”

Katya and Adam’s performance of the Argentine tango on Saturday ended with the pair nearly kissing, which the Olympian has since uttered in defense of his personal life and relationship with girlfriend Eiri Munro.

But Sara believes the panel, including judge Shirley Ballas, wants to see intimacy on the dance floor and she will draw inspiration from swimmer Adam who pushed the boundaries for his performance last weekend.

She said: “The feedback I got in week one was that I was holding back, and I had to give it my all and put everything into my performance. So every week I did that, I put it all in my dance.

“I’ll have to make do with the Rumba this weekend, which Adam did this weekend.

“I feel so sorry for him because his personal life has been a nightmare for the past week and everyone is talking about it when he’s only tried his best to dance with Katya, which I appreciate because that’s what I’m trying to do. to do too.

“I hope it doesn’t stop him from doing that again because the Argentine tango he did definitely asks for it.

“I’ve become really close with Adam, he’s one of my best friends through this process and I think if he were to do a dance and know that he held back and it would cost him his place in the competition, he’d be so annoyed would be with himself. I can see he’s really mentally upset about this.”

Sara, who has topped the leaderboard twice this series, says “everyone” is commenting on her weight loss and It Takes Two host Rylan Clark-Neal made her day after complimenting her slimmed-down figure.

She said, ‘I don’t notice it personally, though; that’s what everyone tells me. They say ‘oh my god you just disappear before our eyes’ and I’m like real? It’s not just one or two people; it’s so many people.

“I met Rylan recently while doing It Takes Two – I’ve never met him before in my life – and the first thing he said was ‘Honey, you look so good, it’s just unbelievable’ – it made my day good.’

The mother of two insisted that her “lumps and bumps” should be covered when she first signed up for Strictly and she wore a corset and Spanx to hide her body.

But now, just five weeks into the competition, she’s happy to wear a dress that shows off her thighs after deciding she wants to finally celebrate her “tummy.”

Sara said, “It’s funny because I always tell them with the dresses to cover all my bumps and bumps and my mommy belly which is absolutely huge and I want you to ruffle the front so I don’t notice and a corset and a pair of Spanx over the corset.

“But this week they showed me my dress design and said it has a dropped hem. What do you think of that? If they had shown me that in week one I definitely wouldn’t have said – they haven’t sewn the hem yet because they said they could raise it if I’m uncomfortable with it and I just said let’s try it.

“I was so surprised and so happy with myself. When I watch my dance on Saturday, I still feel like I’m kind of in that dress and it’s still tight there and my stomach sticking out, but I want to celebrate and not hide it.’
