Stoke City defeated championship leaders West Brom 1-0 on Friday thanks to a late strike from Nick Powell.
Midfielder Powell picked up a chipped pass from Tommy Smith and lobbed Baggies keeper Sam Johnstone to score the only goal of the game in the 79th minute, giving Stoke a deserved win and taking them to third in the standings, one point behind West Brom.
Johnstone had saved a previous penalty from Sam Surridge but was helpless to keep out Powell’s delicate chip.
