He continues: ‘Nobody tells you to stop because they are too careful with ‘oh my God, don’t touch a Muslim’. Let me tell you something, this is a Christian country. You behave in our ways and the way we do things.’

As the Muslim passenger continues to recite the Islamic holy book, the man adds: ‘If you want to do it, get up half an hour earlier and do it in your lounge. You can look in any direction you want.’

After the scenes, the Muslim passenger wrote on social media: ‘For those who question the story; no I wasn’t noisy and I didn’t disturb the peace either.

“It was 6:40 am Saturday morning on my way to work and the train was almost 70 percent empty (look at the reflection on the windows). I was reciting the Quran softly and quietly enough that I can hear myself.

“This passenger across from me had a problem with me reading the Quran in a public place. It didn’t seem to bother anyone except him to be honest.

“I told him to move when he was that busy or to shut up, but he didn’t do either. He just wanted me to stop reading the Quran because he believes that ‘we should not read our prayers (read the Quran) on TfL’.

He added: ‘I ignored him and continued with my recitation, but he went out of his way to follow me off the train and complain to London Underground.’

British Transport Police are investigating the incident, tweeting: ‘Don’t worry, this incident is currently under investigation.

‘Such behavior is never tolerated on the rail network.’
