Sam Armytage Joins Farmer Wants A Wife – After Complaining She Hated Sunrise’s ‘Not Serious’ Segments
Samantha Armytage expressed her distaste for some of the “lame” light entertainment segments she endured as co-host of Sunrise last month.
But this week, the 45-year-old host — who left the breakfast show in March — made the shocking announcement that she was joining the frothy reality TV franchise Farmer Wants a Wife.
The announcement was part of Channel Seven’s Upfronts on Tuesday.
Surprise! Sam Armytage (pictured right with husband Richard Lavender) made the shocking announcement that she will be joining reality TV franchise Farmer Wants A Wife on Tuesday — weeks after she criticized Sunrise for not being “serious” enough
During a conversation with the Brains Trust podcast last month, Sam talked about a “dumb” Sunrise sketch she participated in with Sex and the City star Kristin Davis.
Armytage had donned a curly blonde wig for the segment, in which she played Sarah Jessica Parker’s character Carrie Bradshaw in the HBO hit.
The ill-advised interview made Davis visibly uncomfortable and caused a lot of backlash — most of it was aimed at the host.

“Guess who was to blame? Me. I just sat there and thought, why is all this happening just to me?’ said Shem.
“I had days where I thought… ‘I have a journalism degree from college, do I really have to do this?’ But you do it because it’s your job.’
“It’s not The 7:30 Report, I wasn’t under the illusion that we had to be very serious all the time. But it was the response to it that touched me,” she explained, calling the criticism “supportive.”
About her reasons for leaving Sunrise earlier this year, Armytage said, “I’m not a Kardashian, I didn’t go into this to become famous.”

Sam continued, “I’m a journalist by trade, so I just decided to take a step back and reset my life.”
And apparently, part of that “reset” involves becoming a guest judge on Seven’s hit reality TV dating show Farmer Wants A Wife.
Sam, who married wealthy farmer Richard Lavender late last year, will help with the matchmaking process with host Natalie Gruzlewski.
Career step: Sam (right, with husband Richard) will guest star on dating show Farmer Wants a Wife, the network announced Tuesday
“I’m thrilled to be joining Farmer Wants a Wife in 2022,” she said on Tuesday.
“I’ve always been a big fan of the show and of country folk, and I know firsthand that falling in love with a farmer is just about the most beautiful thing you can do.”
Her guest role will consist of hosting a segment called Sam’s Choice, where she introduces the farmers to a “new lady based on her own expertise and experience.”

Seven’s program director, Angus Ross, said the network was “elated to welcome Sam back to our screens.”
“Farmer Wants a Wife is such a hit with the public because of his heart and Natalie’s sincere mission to help farmers find the love of their lives,” said Mr. Ross.
“Given Sam’s new life on the farm, she’s in the perfect position to share a snapshot of what farm life could be like for the ladies.”

“I’m really eager to help find the right woman for each of our farmers,” she says, standing in a paddock wearing a cowboy hat.
‘I won’t hold back, because this is love. This is for the rest of their lives. I really want to help a farmer find a wife. Have you all met Rich?’
Richard then walks up to the screen and says, “Every farmer needs love,” to which Sam responds dizzy, “That’s lovely, honey!”
