An urgent recall has been issued for three vegan chocolate products sold in Woolworths and Big W stores across Australia over fears of contamination.

Food Standards Australia and New Zealand announced on Friday that Health Lab is recalling its products Mylk Chocolate Zillions 100g, Whyte Chocolate Zillions 100g and Mixed Kwalas 96g with expiration dates of August 23, 2022 and October 23, 2022.

The products, which are aimed at children, are being recalled due to the presence of an undeclared allergen – milk.

Health Lab is recalling its Mylk Chocolate Zillions 100g, Whyte Chocolate Zillions 100g and Mixed Kwalas 96g products with date markings of at least August 23, 2022 and October 23, 2022

The authority stated that people with a milk allergy or intolerance should not eat any of the listed products, as they could have a reaction.

Health Lab, known for its products that are “plant-based,” “all-natural” and “more allergen-friendly,” said an investigation into the matter was underway.

“We are currently working closely with the Victorian Department of Health and Food Standards Australia New Zealand (FSANZ) to investigate how this event occurred and manage this recall process,” they said.

Consumers with a milk allergy or intolerance are advised to return the products to the place of purchase for a full refund.

‘The rest of our Health Lab and Health Lab Kids collections are without contamination. Please always read the ingredients list and the ‘may contain’ statements to make sure they are suitable for allergies or intolerances,” said Health Lab.
