Real Housewives of Melbourne EXCLUSIVE Why this year’s season will be totally different from others

He is the famous fashion designer who has had regular cameo roles in The Real Housewives of Melbourne since its inception seven years ago.

And ahead of his return to the franchise this year, Melbourne couturier Alin Le’ Kal has revealed why the 2021 season will stand out from the crowd.

Alin, who will be appearing several times this season, told Daily Mail Australia exclusively this week that the show’s storyline will be much ‘lighter’ this year, mainly in response to the Covid-19 pandemic.

“I noticed that this time filming with them was much more fun and lighter. It wasn’t as hard as last time,’ he explained.

“With the way the world is going, with the pandemic and all, and because it’s been a while since they’ve filmed they wanted it to be lighter,” he said, adding: “The cast has a lot more fun this season, it’s not that aggressive.’

Alin, who considers original cast members Gamble Breaux and Janet Roach close friends, also noted that the social dynamics have shifted this season thanks to the arrival of four new housewives.

This season introduced yoga teacher Cherry Dipietrantonio, ‘Champagne Dame’ Kyla Kirkpatrick, TV journalist Anjali Rao and business manager Simone Elliott.

Fan favorites Gamble, Janet and Jackie Gillies have since returned to the beloved franchise.

The final season was also filmed in Melbourne during the lockdown – a situation that put production staff in trouble.

Alin described his experience on set during the lockdown, saying: ‘Everyone had to wear masks and we just had to be careful.’

“It was a closed set, so no one came in or out. It was just cast and produced,” he added.

Alin’s work caught the attention of critics in 2016 when Gamble, the star of Real Housewife of Melbourne, stepped out in an intricately beaded dress made of 120,000 glass beads.

While Alin lives in Victoria, his designs can be found in exclusive boutiques around the world, including in Paris.

He also recently opened his newest store in Melbourne’s very own South Yarra.

Since then, he has built up an international celebrity following, with names such as Lindsay Lohan, Nicole Scherzinger, Kelly Rowland, Paris Hilton, Julia Morris and Sophie Monk.

The Real Housewives of Melbourne airs Sunday at 8:30 p.m. in Foxtel’s Arena.
