Police say a gunman shot and injured three people after opening fire on a bus in Michigan before being fatally shot by responding officers.

At 9:15 a.m. Saturday, police said they were responding to an “active gunman” situation at the Kalamazoo Transportation Center off Kalamazoo Avenue between Rose and Burdick streets.

Kalamazoo Police Chief Coakley confirmed 54-year-old Anthony Oliver got on a bus and shot three passengers who suffered non-life-threatening injuries.

When officers arrived at the scene, they ran into Oliver and exchanged shots, police said.

Oliver was shot during the fair and taken to a hospital, where he died of his injuries.

No officers were injured and police say it is not clear whether Oliver knew any of the bus passengers.

After the shooting, Metro Bus Service suspended services for the rest of Saturday and confirmed that no Metro employees were injured in the shooting.
