Don’t go here for Squid Game! Police joke that roadwork detour sign looks like directions to join Netflix TV hit

  • The square, circle and triangle sign was spotted on the M4
  • The same three shapes are used in the hit Netflix show Squid Game
  • South Korean survival drama has been viewed more than 100 million times in one month

Police had to reassure drivers that a new M4 board will not lead to the Squid Games as it has a square, circle and triangle.

Thames Valley police had to deny the eerie distraction that leads people to the Netflix show.

Motorists spotted the mysterious yellow signage on the M4 Junction 5 in Slough, Berkshire.

The same three shapes (square, circle and triangle) are used by those who perform the brutal games on the Netflix show on their masks and business cards.

Squid Game is one of the most popular shows on TV, despite violent scenes where low-money contestants are tricked into playing life-or-death challenges to win money.

On UK roads, however, the shapes – square, triangle, circle and diamond – are often used to guide trucks.

In response to the confusion, Thames Valley Police tweeted: “Evening everyone,

So we can confirm that following this signage from the M4 Junction 5 in Slough will not lead you to the hit Netflix series Squid Game.

“They’re just indications for detour routes during the roadworks*pff.”

Despite the clarification, a stunned Louise Smee replied, “But what do those shapes tell us?”

Another – named Melissa – similarly added, “So what do the shapes mean?”

Michael Strubel said: ‘What a relief,’ while Jamie Hall applauded the police and said: ‘Brilliant tweet.’

The South Korean survival drama Squid Game has had more than 100 million viewers worldwide since its launch a month ago.
