Pete Doherty is engaged to his longtime girlfriend Katia de Vidas.
A representative for the star confirmed to MailOnline that the singer, 42, posed the question to the film editor after seeing a sparkly new ring in an Instagram post.
In recent years, Pete, who revealed last week that he’s been heroin-free for two and a half years, has settled with his Puta Madres bandmate Katia in France and ditched his bad boy lifestyle.

Katia’s new engagement ring was featured in images shared by Welsh band Trampolene, who teamed up with Pete last year.
The photos showed frontman Jack Jones playing with his dog alongside Pete and Katia.
One image showed Katia leaning forward to kiss the pet, with a new ring on her engagement finger, and the post read, “Luna & de Puta Madres xXx.”
A rep for Pete confirmed that he and Katia, who have been together since 2012, have been engaged “for a while.”

It comes just days after Pete revealed in an interview with BBC Scotland that he hadn’t used heroin for two years.
He said, ‘I’m recovering, I suppose I’m off heroin for two and a half years, which is a big deal for me and yes, I’ll keep on writing music, and still writing music.’
Pete and Katia, who have been in a relationship for several years, teamed up with Trampolene in May 2020 for the single Uncle Brian’s Abattoi, which was released during the Covid lockdown.
Pete has been rethinking his lifestyle in recent years and is living a much quieter life in France with Katia.
He rose to fame in the mid-2000s fronting the indie band The Libertines, but gained national attention when he dated supermodel Kate Moss.
The pair met at her 31st birthday party in January 2005, and he stated shortly afterwards that he had “really found love.”

Their turbulent romance led to a brief rift when Pete failed to complete a stint in rehab in Arizona, US, with Kate saying she had “several personal issues that I needed to address.”
In 2005, he even drew a portrait of himself and Kate using colored pencils and his own blood.
Pete, who has been divorced from Kate several times, called her a “nasty old rag” in an interview with Metro after they broke up for good in 2007, months after he proposed to her.

Pete has a son, Astile, 18, from his relationship with Lisa Moorish, and in 2009 it was reported that the singer was once banned from seeing his son due to his drug addiction.
But after he went to rehab and got clean, he became a much more hands-on dad.
Lisa told Metro in 2009: “Peter has occasional problems with his recovery, so it was a very difficult decision to make.
“But when he came out of rehab last year and started to get his life together, I thought the time was right. I want Astile to have a father.”
Pete also has a daughter, Aisling, with model Lindi Hingston, who shared the news of her daughter’s arrival a year after she was born.
A week after Linda shared the news, Pete said, “The little girl was two months early. I said I’d try to be at the birth… Yes, she’s mine.’
Former Flame: Though his most famous relationship was with Kate, Pete also had an affair with the late singer Amy Winehouse before her death in 2011 (pictured in 2008)
Though his most famous relationship was with Kate, Pete also had an affair with the late singer Amy Winehouse before her death in 2011.
In 2012, he told The Mail On Sunday: ‘Amy and I were lovers. I loved her then and, well, I still do.
“But towards the end, as only lovers can, she got pretty mean and cruel to me. She was not bothered by fools. . . and believe me, she had a mean right hook.’
Pete has a history of possession of cocaine, heroin, cannabis and ketamine.
In 2012, he was kicked out of a luxury rehab facility in Thailand after claiming to be a bad influence on other patients and not trying hard enough to break free from his heroin addiction.
The once troubled star has quit heroin and ketamine, but revealed he still enjoys whipping up a cocktail.
Peter said earlier this year that after moving to Normandy, he slept a lot, ate French cheese and drank water.
He generally enjoys a much slower pace of life these days and has reportedly taken up the bocce-style sport.
A local told The Sun: ‘Peter is no longer a bad boy. He relaxes, unwinds and loves the good things in life.
“We introduced him to petanque and he fell in love with the game. He often comes to our club nights when we play.’
Mikael Grondin, who runs the bakery, said of Pete – who has slimmed down in recent months – ‘He always comes by for a bag of Bout de Choux (creamy coal), a pastry filled with cream. Maybe that’s why he got fatter, but don’t worry, these are good for him.’
And Pete recently revealed that he especially likes cheese on toast and that his “guilty pleasure” is sleeping after being up for “six days.”
In July, following the easing of Covid restrictions in the UK, Pete showed off his slimmed-down figure as he took the stage for a performance in Coventry.
