Football legend Pele can be seen in a video singing the national anthem of his old Brazilian club Santos as he celebrated the departure of intensive care from a hospital in Sao Paulo.

The 80-year-old Brazilian was seen smiling as he accompanied visiting musicians who brought a guitar to practice his vocal chords.

Daughter Kely Nascimento, who has been posting updates on her father’s recovery from hospital surgery to remove a tumor from his colon, has released footage of him enjoying himself in a room at Alberto Enstein Hospital in Sao Paulo.

She captioned the video in a direct message to fans: “You’ve been asking for more! There’s nothing better than this.’

Earlier this week, the three-time World Cup winner posted a photo on social media of him “hitting the air” to celebrate “every better day” as he continued his recovery.

On Friday, Pele was hospitalized again, just three days after previously undergoing surgery to remove a colon tumor.

Pele was briefly transferred back to an intensive care unit at Albert Einstein Hospital in Sao Paulo, where he underwent surgery earlier this month, after experiencing breathing difficulties.

However, he was seen in good spirits in a video of him doing a one-two with his clenched fists while exercising from bed on an exercise bike during a physical therapy session.

His daughter joked, moving only his legs, “Move your arms, move your arms.”

The smiling former football player immediately responded with a one-two punch while he was practicing.

Hospital bosses have not yet said when they think Pele, who is Edson Arantes do Nascimento in full, will be healthy enough to go home after surgery to remove a tumor in his colon.

The former Santos striker’s colon tumor was found at the end of August when he went to the hospital for routine examinations. His surgery took place on September 4.

Pele has suffered from hip problems for years and is unable to walk independently.

His public appearances had already been reduced before the coronavirus outbreak.

In a first Instagram post after his surgery, Pele showed his sense of humor by writing, “My friends, with each passing day, I feel a little better.

“I’m looking forward to playing again, but I’m going to have a few more days to recover.

“While I’m here, I take the opportunity to talk and rest a lot with my family.

Thanks again for all the loving messages. We’ll be back together soon!’

Pele raised concerns about his health in a recent Netflix documentary about his career after he was seen using a walker.

The former footballer, the only male player to have won three World Cups, has had mobility issues since a botched hip surgery in 2012.

In recent years, he has also undergone kidney and prostate procedures.

Pele gained international fame when, as a 17-year-old, he helped Brazil win the 1958 World Cup, which he repeated in 1962 and 1970.

Officially, he scored 757 goals in a glittering career – club Santos claims his number was closer to 1,000 – leaving only Cristiano Ronaldo and Josef Biscan on the all-time list.

In addition, he was only recently overtaken as the best international goalscorer in South American history, when Lionel Messi scored a hat-trick for Argentina in their World Cup qualifier last week.

Messi has registered his massive number in 153 caps for Argentina, while Pele has scored his 77 goals in 92 official appearances for Brazil.
