Sydney gets the party started early: Stunning footage shows hundreds of revelers on the city’s beaches despite being locked down – before police arrive to end the party
Hundreds of revelers gathered on Sydney’s beaches on Friday night to bring in the weekend, despite the city’s harsh Covid lockdown.
Footage taken in North Bondi in the city’s eastern suburbs showed locals gathering in large groups on a grassy knoll overlooking the beach with no police in sight.
Hundreds of others were also on display, enjoying drinks and chatting with friends at Manly Beach on the city’s northern beaches.
Sydneysiders are only allowed to gather outside in groups of two, or in groups of up to five if they are fully vaccinated against Covid-19.
