Danny Mills has claimed that ‘there is no one better’ to replace Steve Bruce at Newcastle than former Chelsea and Manchester United boss Jose Mourinho.
Newcastle was acquired by the Public Investment Fund (PIF) for £305 million last week, making it the richest club in world football. The new owners have promised fans that they will transform the Magpies from a team fighting relegation to title challengers.
A new manager is expected to be appointed as part of the revamp as Magpies boss Steve Bruce’s days at the club are rapidly becoming more limited.

Sports post reported last week that the 60-year-old would be leaving the club in light of the Saudi Arabia-led takeover, and that his pay-off is £8 million.
The new owners are aware of the negative impact of his presence in the dugout in the opening game and have drawn up a list of high profile contenders to replace him, including Leicester manager Brendan Rodgers, Lucien Favre and Steven Gerrard.
But former Premier League defender Mills believes Portuguese boss Mourinho is the best candidate to take Newcastle ‘from survival to top four’.

“If you’re talking about getting money to build a team and be relatively successful, I would go for Mourinho,” he told talkSPORT via Metro.
“If you give Jose enough money and let him do what he wants, he will lead you to success faster than anyone else.
“Newcastle can go slow and survive this season, finish in the top half next season and then in the top six. But if they want to jump from survival to the top four, I don’t see anyone better than Mourinho to do that.

“You’d have to give him an absolute fortune to buy the players he wants, but he’s one of the few coaches who can.
“He could build a team next week that will be successful, he could do it in the January transfer window. Football may not be brilliant, but it will make you win matches, that’s for sure.”
Mourinho is currently in charge of Roma and the Portuguese manager is fourth in Serie A after the first seven games and four points ahead of Juventus, who go to battle at the Allianz Stadium on Sunday.
Bruce was expected to get his marching orders during the two-week international break ahead of Sunday’s Premier League game, but Newcastle’s clash with Tottenham could now be the boss’s last game.
