Newcastle could reportedly make a move for Arsenal outcast Matteo Guendouzi

Foot Mercato has now reported that the new Saudi Arabian-led regime is interesting for bringing the youngster to St James’ Park next summer.

It was a hectic few weeks for the club after the takeover of the club from Mike Ashley – making them the richest club footballer.

Steve Bruce was sacked last month and after failing to convince Unai Emery to leave Villarreal, they are going to hire former Bournemouth manager Eddie Howe to lead the team.

Guendouzi has been hailed for his brilliant performance in Ligue 1 so far this season, scoring three goals and providing the same number of assists.

His performances have been rewarded in recent times with calls up to France’s international competitions in September and October – although he has yet to earn his first cap.

However, Guendouzi has gained a ‘bad boy’ reputation and hasn’t started for the Gunners since a 2-1 defeat to Brighton in June 2020.

After an altercation with Neal Maupay, he was excluded from the roster due to a ‘history of problems’ over his attitude and behaviour.

In September, it was also reported that Marseille players were ‘tired’ and ‘struggling’ with the French midfielder.

It came after the hot-headed Frenchman confronted teammate Gerson on the pitch during their 3-2 defeat to Lens.
