New York’s realignment tests Democratic opposition to Gerrymandering

“I am against partisan and racial gerrymandering and by saying I don’t think I am weak for my party’s interests. I think Democrats, progressives will do just fine if the system is fair, we will have the advantage we deserve,” he told reporters during a phone call. “If you look at New York, if you look at the population shifts in New York, New York is even more urban than it was, there are a lot less rural votes, you would expect a drop in Republican seats. That’s not a function of gerrymandering, that’s a function of the number of people there, their partisan tendencies, unlike what you’re going to see in Ohio, Texas, Georgia, no matter what the voters want.”
