Mystery when 40kg of potatoes and 30kg of carrots are dumped on a man’s doorstep in the middle of the night, two weeks apart – with the vegetable villain nowhere to be found
- Hordes of vegetables have been dropped on the porch of an unsuspecting household
- Jordan King found about 40 kg of potatoes after returning from a trip
- Two weeks later, about 30 kg of carrots were left in the same place at 2 am
- Don’t know who is behind the vegetable drop-offs but would like to find out
A holidaymaker was surprised to return home to find 40kg of potatoes mysteriously dumped on his doorstep – followed days later by 30kg of carrots.
Jordan King assumed that the first gift of vegetables for his home in the Perth suburb of Doubleview was a joke from a friend.
But in two weeks no one came forward and he still has no idea who the phantom dumper is. Then came the carrots.

About 40kg of potatoes and 30kg of carrots (pictured) were left on the porch of the house in Perth on two separate occasions
“We had just returned from a little trip and found some puds on our doorstep,” he told local radio station 6PR.
“We didn’t think too much about it…thought someone was joking, then came back yesterday and found that someone had dumped some carrots on our doorstep. It’s very strange.’
His roommate David Russell said the carrots were dropped off around 2 a.m. and the perpetrator was still nowhere to be found.
King said he had “no idea” where the vegetables came from and planned to put up cameras to catch the perpetrator in the act when they returned.
The residents say they do not know who is behind the vegetable dumping, while friends and neighbors plead for their innocence
Friends and neighbors all claimed they were not behind the unusual joke.
The housemates throw away much of the vegetables and feed some of the carrots to horses on a nearby estate.
Facebook users responded with an avalanche of vegetable puns and speculation about why the vegetable villain was targeting them.
“Count your blessings as it is illegal to be in possession of more than 50kg of potatoes in WA,” wrote one who overturned a bizarre 1946 ban with a fine of up to $5,000.
“Somebody is dropping the hint that you need some extra vegetables in your diet,” said another.
The large hordes of vegetables are said to be mostly thrown away, with some carrots going to an estate with horses nearby
