“Most people only know Helen Keller’s story from when she was a kid,” says director Wash Westmoreland. Helen & Teacher will look at her as a young adult as she developed a radical, world-changing political voice.
“Nowadays, when some TikTok threads are questioning Helen Keller’s achievements and even her very existence, it’s time for a film that showcases her relevance, her brilliance, and her unbreakable spirit.”
The film is being written by Laetitia Mikles and Westmoreland in conjunction with a team from the Helen Keller National Center for Youth and Adults.
