Melbourne Premiership captain Max Gawn reveals he is writing new book on his team’s historic grand final win
Melbourne Demons captain Max Gawn is writing a new book about his team’s historic win in 2021 and the difficulties the club faced beforehand.
Gawn, 29, has penned the book in diary form ahead of the team’s victory in Perth after 57 years of drought.
It will be titled Captain’s Diary and will be published by Hardie Grant Books.

‘I had nothing to do when I came back. I was just home and barely left my house,” the AFL superstar told the Herald Sun of his decision to put the book together.
‘In the position I’m in, I take notes all year round. It’s actually my diary, so hopefully it will be well read,” he said.
The diary entries are from Gawn’s perspective as he analyzes the 2021 AFL season, the Demons players, the coaches and the club’s finals campaign.

“There are so many special people who make the Melbourne footy club what it is. After 57 years, this one was for them all,” Gawn added.
The Melbourne ruckman said he was most excited to be able to reconnect with fans through the book after so many months of lockdown.
Gawn also keeps busy thanks to his personal life and other ventures.

The Demons convincingly defeated the Western Bulldogs 21.14 (140) to 10.6 (66) in last month’s AFL Grand Final at Optus Stadium in Perth.
It was Melbourne’s first Premiership win since 1964 and came after the club struggled for years at the bottom of the ladder.
