Married At First Sight star Joanne Todd has been relentlessly mocked on social media after revealing she lost her job for refusing the Covid-19 vaccine.

While there was the usual “good for you” and “stand up for your rights” refrain from anti-vaxxers, other Aussies said they had “no sympathy” for the 40-year-old barber.

She was labeled a fool for choosing to quit her 12-year job because of her stubbornness, with some fans saying they stopped following her on Instagram.

The coronavirus vaccine is a safe and vital measure being taken to protect the community from the spread of the virus.

The vaccine makes you significantly less likely to become seriously ill from the virus and also reduces the chance of transmission.

In response to Todd saying she lost her job for refusing the vaccine, a fan asked her bluntly, “Can’t you just get vaccinated?”

Others said she had “made her choice” and was dealing with the consequences, meaning unvaccinated staff in the hair and beauty industry will be unable to work.

“Zero compassion. She’s still given a choice and she’s made her choice – she’s not fired,” one user commented on The Wash’s Instagram account.

‘You realize no jab, no play’ [a policy that disallows unvaccinated children from attending childcare centres] has been a thing among children for years?

“Yeah, now it’s for the adults and it hits you directly and you’re all in turmoil.”

A third wrote: “No sympathy whatsoever.”

Several noted the irony of a hairdresser giving health advice and also mocked women who refuse the vaccine but are only too happy to inject Botox, a toxin, into their faces.

“She’s a hairdresser…of course I trust her with my health,” commented one fan.

Similar comments included: ‘Still, she’s pumping her lips and face with injections, but she’s not getting the vaccine,’ and ‘Have you whitened your teeth to perfection? Yes, no, that vaccine is dangerous.’

“I never thought I’d lose my job to a vaccine, but the good thing is I’ve set up my own barber space,” Todd said in a video on Instagram.

I’m jumping up here to reach all my regulars and the moms with the kids [whose] haircuts I used to do in Karingal.

“I’m not going back to that store again, so anyone I used to cut, or anyone who doesn’t get the vaccine, please hit me up and I’ll be happy to cut your hair.”

Todd said she is willing to cut anyone’s hair, regardless of their vaccination status, despite the new government rules.

“I’m happy to take the vaccinated or unvaccinated,” she said.

Todd told Daily Mail Australia on Thursday: ‘I’m not anti-vax. I just think we should have a choice and not lose our job [the vaccine].’

It comes after Victorian Prime Minister Daniel Andrews announced that hair salons will be allowed to reopen to fully vaccinated people once the 70 percent vaccination target has been reached.
