The YouTuber that broke into the Love Island villa has revealed he only did so because he wanted one of the girls’ numbers.
Omer Majid, 21, was behind the security breach that saw him stroll into the villa after dodging security and he claims the front door was left unlocked.
Contestants were locked away, but Majid managed to get outside of one of the bedroom doors and sat in the beach hut chair before security threw him out and police arrived.
Extreme lengths: YouTuber Omer Majid, 21, who broke into the Love Island villa has revealed he only did so because he wanted one of the girls’ numbers
Speaking to The Sun, Majid says he couldn’t believe his luck that the front door was unlocked when he arrived on site – after spending a week planning the break in.
‘I tried to get into the bedroom to speak to them. I just wanted one of the girls’ numbers, that’s all,’ he told the publication.
‘I could hear them whispering on the other side of the bedroom door. They were just talking among themselves, there was no shouting or screaming, they seemed fine.’
Majid didn’t reveal whose number he had been trying to get.
Security breach: Guards issued a code red and locked islanders away while Majid was on site
Caught: Majid was caught by security guards after trespassing on site and the prankster was searched by police, before being let go
He claims security had rounded up the islanders and locked them away into two separate bedrooms as they dealt with the intrusion.
The prankster had flown over to Majorca, where the Love Island villa is located, and spent time scouting out the premises and its security, before attempting to break in and trespassing on site.
Using long lenses to watch the guards as they patrolled the site, Majid claims he found a blindspot behind a bush that would allow him to gain entry by climbing through undergrowth.
The first time he attempted to break in he was caught by security, so “pretended to be tourists taking pictures” before heading back to the villa the following day, wearing all black clothes and night vision goggles.
Break in: Majid claims the front door to the villa was left unlocked, so he walked straight in after gaining access to the property
Meticulous: Majid flew to Majorca from the UK for the break in and claims he spent a week planning the intrusion – he was caught be security during a failed first attempt to get access
‘I just walked in through the front door because it was open… I managed to have a walk around and then security threw me out,’ he claims.
Police arrived on site with Majid alleging that he was made to strip naked outside the front of the villa to be searched for his SD memory card.
When contacted by MailOnline, a spokesperson for Love Island declined to comment.
Earlier this month, it was reported that Love Island bosses were investigating a security breach after Majid gained access to the villa.
Majid filmed himself on a live broadcast in a corridor before he could be seen under fluorescent lights.
A voice shouting ‘you’re trespassing’ could be heard before Majid, who appeared to be joined by a male friend, was swiftly removed.
At the time, a spokesperson for ITV confirmed the intrusion to MailOnline and said the area of the villa the prankster was in has been ‘deep cleaned’ to comply with Covid-19 measures.
They said: ‘Last night a security breach was identified and an intruder was removed from the Villa with immediate effect.
‘The safety of both our islanders and our production crew remains our primary concern.
‘As part of our stringent COVID safety measures, the Villa area that was trespassed has been fully deep cleaned before being made accessible again to the islanders and crew.’
A Love Island insider later told MailOnline that as a result of the break in, bosses have beefed up security at the villa to prevent future intruders gaining access.
They added that Majid did not get near any of the islanders before he was removed.
The Love Island villa is guarded by a team of security guards, with former contestant Alex Miller claiming the team are forced to fend-off trespassers up to five times a day.
‘When I left, I chatted with the guys who looked after us. They told me at least five people a day try to access that villa – but so far no one has got in. They’re clearly doing a good job! I was impressed,’ he said.
Safety first: An insider revealed Love Island bosses have beefed up security after the break in
YouTuber Majid has 11,800 subscribers on his channel where he regularly posts prank videos and over 6,500 followers on his Instagram account where his Love Island video was posted.
Previously speaking about the break-in, he told The Daily Star that he had tracked down the villa’s location online and spent days planning his break in.
He said: ‘I literally flew here just to do that from the UK. I found the area vicinity through internet searches. Then I drove around for about five hours the day before scouting the location trying to find an entry.
‘We [himself and his camera man] heard a noise and saw a flash light. At this moment we got scared and stood still and I could just hear radios as they looked for us,’ he added.
‘Luckily the security on the other side moved away as they spotted my camera man and told him to get out. I then ran for the villa and called my friend so he could put me back on the live stream.’
Love Island was forced to cancel its summer series in 2020 due to the coronavirus pandemic, while the winter series went ahead in South Africa for the first time in January, just months before lockdown.
ITV confirmed Love Island’s return earlier this year, with the show returning to its original location in Majorca.
