A royal photographer who captured the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge at the Earthshot Prize Awards has hailed the pair as a “strong team” and recalled how Kate was Prince William’s biggest fan.

Chris Jackson told People the mother of three, 39, was “so obviously, really proud” of her husband when he returned from his speech at the ceremony at Alexandra Palace, in London, on Sunday.

“She’d been watching TV on the backstage. They are a strong team,” said the photographer.

He added: ‘When you saw it first hand, you realized how much work this was [William]. It was a very special evening.’

Yesterday Chris, who is married to The Duchess of Cambridge stylist and close friend Natasha Archer, 34, took to Instagram and explained how he took a series of behind-the-scenes photos. from the awards.

Among the black and white images, shared to the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge’s social media account, includes the moment Kate, 39, placed a loving hand on Prince William’s lower back in a rare display of public affection – as they are captured looking intensely into each other’s eyes and smiling at each other.

In another adorable photo from Sunday’s engagement, a smartly dressed Prince William pulls back the curtain as he and Kate are seen laughing and laughing together.

Elsewhere, two poignant individual photos of the couple show them both thinking before about to take the stage to deliver their speeches about the importance of caring for the environment for generations to come.

Alongside the series of snaps, Chris wrote: “Some of you may have noticed that I was a little quiet after the Earthshot awards…

“This was because I had a fantastic opportunity to shoot ‘behind the scenes’ with the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge and the groundbreaking environmental initiative that will go a long way to changing the story in the years to come.”

“It was special to witness up close the passion and energy that has gone into this event and performances by talented artists such as @teddysphotos @ksi and @coldplay. I think these photos illustrate the depth of feeling during the event.’

To match the event’s ethos and pinnacle of sustainability, the mother of three recycled the Alexander McQueen dress she first wore a decade ago in 2011, at a Bafta reception in Los Angeles, while she and Prince William touring America as newlyweds.

The decade-long global environmental competition awards £1 million to five winners for an idea to protect the planet.

The choice for the monochrome photos, however, comes after Prince Harry and Meghan Markle chose two black-and-white family photos to announce Meghan’s pregnancy with Lilibet, where the royal couple can be seen on the grounds of their $14 million California mansion for a ‘tree of life.’

They also chose the same style to announce their son’s name on Instagram in May 2019, and released two more from the photocall at Windsor Castle earlier that same day.
