James Stewart has written a sweet tribute to his co-star Penny McNamee after she left the hit soap opera Home and Away this week.

The 45-year-old actor shared a photo of himself and Penny, 38, on set in fictional Summer Bay and said the pair had the best working “partnership.”

“I will miss you… your wit, your humor, your choices, your sensitivity, your friendship…” he wrote in part of his post.

‘Over the years I’ve worked in many collaborations… and I have to say this one is one of the best. Mac, you are an absolute pro! Goodbye my friend,’ he added.

“Thank you for seeing things in me that I never saw. I like this picture of us. – xo – God bless you Mac.’

Penny has parted ways with her character Dr Tori Morgan and Summer Bay after five years on Home and Away.

On Monday, she shared a heartfelt message to the cast, crew and fans of the long-running Australian soap opera in an Instagram post.

Penny wrote in the caption, “After five wonderful years, it’s time for me to say goodbye to Tori Morgan and Summer Bay.”

The soap star thanked the show’s producers for casting her in the amazing role, as well as her management team and agents.

She said of the Home and Away team: “Thank you to our excellent and warm-hearted cast (past and present) crew, writers, publicists and production team, for your warmth, your humor and your friendship.”

Penny also thanked the fans for their support and hilarious photo edits, adding, “I’ve read all your letters and comments and I appreciate them all.”

She specifically named her family – especially her parents and in-laws – as well as her friends who helped care for her two children, five-year-old Jack and two-year-old Neve.

‘Finally, to my husband, Matt [Tooker]. Thank you for making it all possible. For the constant sacrifices you’ve made—big and small,” she concluded.

‘My heart is so full! Goodbye and thank you, Home and Away.’

Last week, Penny told Who magazine that she decided to leave to focus on her singing career and spend more time with her family.

She said she was happy with the way her character’s storyline ended – a dream wedding and moving to London.
