Michael Myers has been branded “homophobic” for the murder of a gay couple in the latest installment of the Halloween movie franchise.
The never-dying villain, known to be bad in embodiment, is facing some backlash for his choice of victims in the new Halloween Kills movie, released last week.
A scene from the slasher movie shows Myers offering to a same-sex couple living in his childhood home, leading some Twitter users to accuse him of homophobia.

“Michael Myers is #HalloweenKills homophobic,” one person tweeted, while another wrote: “I saw that new Halloween movie, I didn’t expect Michael Myers to be so homophobic.”
“HALLOWEEN KILLS WAS SO GOOD, BUT WHY MUST MICHAEL KILL THE ONLY GAY COUPLE… MICHAEL MYERS IS CONFIRMED HOMOPHOBIA,” someone else said.
The Twitter user later added, “If it wasn’t clear enough already, this tweet was A JOKE, so please stop attacking me.”
While some of the tweets evoking the alleged biases of the masked killer were clearly a joke, they sparked heated debate.

Outraged horror fans pointed out that Myers kills everyone he meets – with the exception of children.
“Michael Myers has been killing mfs for decades, but he’s homophobic, that’s where you draw the line,” one person commented, while another commented that the killer isn’t homophobic, he’s “human-phobic.”
Others argued that it would be homophobic if Myers didn’t kill the gay couple because he wouldn’t treat them equally.
“Equality is that Michael Myers also kills gays and doesn’t treat them any differently than anyone else. The opposite would be homophobia,” one person explained.
“If he had NOT killed them, it would have been homophobic,” someone else insisted. “Michael is a mass serial killer, that’s what he does. He kills everyone and everything that stands in his way of killing his sister.’

An op-ed written by Aimee Hart for the LGBTQ publication Gayming made a similar point, saying that “the way he handles the death of the gay couple in the latest movie is no different than how he slaughters Bob, Annie and Lynda in the original. Halloween.’
“The origin of Michael Myers is a mystery beyond the human form of pure evil. He kills because that’s exactly what he does,” she wrote.
“He’s a man of blood and flesh (at least from what we know so far in this remake) and all that drives him is suffering and misfortune.
“In a twisted and perverse way, Michael Myers is someone most people value the same.”
A number of people were also amused by the resistance and couldn’t help but joke that Myers was about to get himself “cancelled.”
“Michael Myers has made 50 movies and no one can kill this man, homophobia to finally end his reign of terror,” one person tweeted.
“If Michael Myers doesn’t get over this homophobia PR nightmare, the third movie is going to be called HALLOWEEN CANCELLED,” another shared.
