Glamorous Australian journalist living in NYC reveals the REAL reason Canberra is the most vaccinated city in the world

An Australian journalist has revealed the real reason why Canberra is on track to become the most vaccinated city in the world.

The ACT will reach the milestone of 90 percent of eligible residents fully vaccinated against Covid-19 by the end of the month.

Sarah Williamson, who works in New York City, said on Instagram on Wednesday that the reason the capital has a high vaccination rate is because the population is small and politicians were first in line to get the shot.

“Maybe because ten people live there and they are all politicians who had direct access,” she wrote.

It comes after ACT chief minister Andrew Barr said Canberra was on track to become one of the most vaccinated cities in the world as the government’s largest vaccination clinic expanded on Monday with walk-up appointments.

As the ACT approaches the end of its lockdown on Friday, Mr Barr said there would be renewed focus in the final days on distributing the first doses to the remaining unvaccinated sections of the population.

The government’s mass vaccination clinic at the Australian Institute of Sport will have walk-in appointments, while more pop-up clinics will also be set up.

“The next four days will be about those remaining first doses, and three or four weeks apart, we look forward to seeing the fully vaccinated numbers match the first dose numbers,” said Mr Barr.

“This means Canberra will be one of the most vaccinated places in the world, and this is just as crucial to our economic recovery and to protecting Canberrans once we get out of lockdown.”

“Maybe because 10 people live there and they are all politicians who had immediate access,” she wrote

The ACT on Monday became the first jurisdiction to approve more than 70 percent double-dose vaccination for people 12 years and older, with 98 percent having a first dose.

There are 455 active cases in the area and 773 people have recovered since the outbreak began.

Mr Barr said the ACT’s vaccination coverage had exceeded expectations.
