Fleetwood Mac veteran Lindsey Buckingham, 71, claims Stevie Nicks, 73, is STILL in love with him

Lindsey Buckingham has claimed that Stevie Nicks is still in love with him.

The 71-year-old guitarist has previously suggested he was fired from Fleetwood Mac in 2018 after Nicks, 73, issued an ultimatum to the rest of the band when he asked to postpone an upcoming tour to promote his solo music – allegations which she has always denied.

And now he’s convinced she never really got over him after their relationship came to an end as they promoted their 1976 album Rumors after four years of dating.

He added: “That’s not a healthy thing to do, because those little compartments can stay closed for years until things seep out if you don’t realize it.

‘I met the love of my life late and that gave me a completely different view of the world. Stevie had no children. She has moved in a different direction and has given more importance to her professional life,” he said.

‘How that has gone over the past three, four, five years. . . It’s hard for me to know what her mentality is to me, but I know what mine is to her because I’ve been married for 21 years and I have three kids and it’s the best thing that ever happened to me.”

Nicks recently denied getting Buckingham fired, claiming his version of events was untrue.

She said: “His version of events is factually inaccurate and while I’ve never spoken publicly about the matter, it certainly feels the time has come to shine a light on the truth.” To be clear, I did not have him fired, I did not ask to be fired, I did not demand that he be fired.

“Honestly, I fired myself. I proactively removed myself from the band and a situation I considered toxic to my well-being. I was ready.;

She added: “If the band goes on without me, so be it. And after many lengthy group discussions, Fleetwood Mac, a band whose legacy is rooted in evolution and change, found a new way forward with two hugely talented new members.”

Also this week, Buckingham said he is “working” on his marriage to Kristen Messner, three months after she filed for divorce from the Fleetwood Mac rocker.

“Long-term relationships can be challenging, and they have their ups and downs,” Buckingham told People on Wednesday. “You have to take that ride and be willing to take it.”

The veteran rocker said he thinks “a lot of relationships have been somewhat tested by the lockdown” and that “over the past year Kristen felt like she needed some time to herself, and I fully supported that.”
