Five votes determine the winner of the Democratic primary in the House after the Florida recount


Sheila Cherfilus-McCormick, a health care executive, emerged victorious after Florida Secretary of State Laurel M. Lee ordered a machine recount of the tight race. An initial count of votes revealed that Cherfilus-McCormick was nearly at a standstill with Broward County Commissioner Dale Holness, with Holness leading with 12 of the more than 49,000 votes cast.
