Huge crowd of 10,000 gamblers get green light to attend Sydney’s star-studded The Everest race
- Everest raceday waived hosting 10,000 bettors during Saturday’s event
- Major events are normally only allowed to host 5,000 guests under restrictions
- Rapid antigen testing is being set up for trainers and jockeys arriving at the course
Everest race day will allow 10,000 gamblers to be held, which is the first major event since the end of the Sydney lockdown.
Prime Minister Dominic Perrottet has approved an exemption for the massive crowd to be hosted at Royal Randwick on Saturday.
Major events are normally only allowed for up to 5,000 guests under current restrictions.
Rapid antigen testing will be set up for trainers and jockeys when they arrive on the track.
