Eric Bailly’s unconventional defense against Young Boys has caused Manchester United fans to compare the centre-back to Spiderman, while supporters praised his ‘wild’ technique.

Bailly, 27, has had a frustrating season at Old Trafford, with former boss Ole Gunnar Solskjaer being reluctant to give the Ivorian a chance in defence, in favor of Harry Maguire, Victor Lindelof and Raphael Varane.

New interim boss Ralf Rangnick gave Bailly a shot on Wednesday night as the German made massive changes for the club’s dead rubber Champions League game against their Swiss rivals.

And although United conceded just before half-time, Bailly impressed with ‘wild’, albeit unconventional, defenses to keep the visitors at bay at Old Trafford.

Bailly’s quick response to an evolving fast break, in which he regained possession before taking an unexpected turn, was praised by fans on social media.

So did his heroic block that denied the Swiss side a second goal, spinning the ball over his own crossbar before falling back onto the turf to swing his legs around in a full 360-degree motion.

Due to the two incidents, fans compared the United defender to Spiderman and praised his “dramatic yet elegant” style.

With Varane still out with a hamstring injury, Bailly hopes his performance on Wednesday night was enough to convince Rangnick to give him a starting spot for Maguire or Lindelof in Norwich on Saturday.
