- The man tried to get through the rails even though the barrier was down
- His front bumper and hood were damaged, but he escaped before the train struck
This is the heartbreaking moment when a driver jumped out of his car just before a moving train hit him as it passed an intersection in Belgrade, Serbia.
The man, 35, walked to the rails to check for incoming trains and got back into the car when he was sure there was no danger.
Moments later, he jumped out when a freight train shot over the rails.
The terrifying footage was captured by CCTV cameras on Oct. 4 at the Belgrade-Bar railway in the Vreoci district.
In the video, the man drives into the crosswalk in a silver SUV just as the guardrail comes down.
Not even a minute passed before the man got out, walked to the rails and looked left and right to see if he could pass safely.
