A cute little dog has won people’s hearts after going viral for looking like a black hole.

Owner Christina Worthington, 28, of Champaign, Illinois, posted a photo of her Schipperke breed dog Ben earlier this year, and was shocked when he quickly gained a huge fan base.

Christina and her husband Ryne, also 28, had never noticed their 10-year-old dog looking around like that from above.

But after she shared a photo online, Christina was inundated with thousands of likes, comments and shares from fans who compared Ben to a black hole you would find in space, due to his bulbous physique and fluffy black coat.

The popular pooch has now been nicknamed ‘Blackhole Ben’, but HR professional Christina assures he hasn’t let the fame go to his head.

She said, “We never considered Ben’s resemblance to a black hole until I quickly snapped a picture of him and sent it to my sister.

She encouraged me to share the photo with other dog lovers around the world on the Facebook group.

“From then on, many group members referred to him as a black hole that you would see in space.

“That’s where his nickname Blackhole Ben comes from.

“It’s really the angle of the photo that makes it so funny.

‘Schipperkes have a unique body type, with their thick triple coat making them appear more bulbous.’

She added: “Ben went viral almost immediately. The reactions to his photos were and still are nothing short of astonishing.

“People have told me it brought them a smile on a bad day and made them laugh with their relatives.

“Often they share a memory of pets since they passed away that Ben reminds them of, which is nice.

“Ben is a real gem and we love everything about him. He is headstrong, loyal, so loving and curious.’
