The View struggles to find a “Trump Republican” to replace Meghan McCain, leading veteran co-host Joy Behar to lament the new addition could be even stronger than her on-screen enemy.
“It’s chaos behind the scenes at The View,” an ABC insider told DailyMail.com. Joy Behar openly complains about Meghan’s departure because it finally dawns on her that sometimes it’s better the devil you know.
“Joy is only now realizing that they can get someone on the political spectrum way beyond Meghan who won’t put up with her bullshit,” she added.
The source said that if ABC had guts, they would do a “huge shake-up” and hire popular conservatives like Kimberly Guilfoyle, Megyn Kelly or even controversial Candace Owens to “give the other women a run for their money.”
The View tries to hire a conservative co-host to replace Meghan McCain. An insider tells DailyMail.com that Joy Behar has “complained openly” about McCain’s departure, as it has “finally touched her” that the replacement could be further right on the political spectrum
“Joy is only now realizing that they can get someone much more right on the political spectrum than Meghan, who won’t put up with her bullshit,” the insider said.
The insider also revealed that the show had tried three different times to hire Donald Trump Jr.’s girlfriend Guilfoyle while she was with Fox News.
‘[Kimberly] would be great if she could persecute the other members of the panel literally every day of the week,” they said. “One of our highest-rated episodes ever was when she dropped by on the show with Don Jr.
“Megyn Kelly would do the same, but her new Sirius deal is making it difficult for her to come to us.”
Tension is also mounting as hostess Ana Navarro competes for a regular seat, but the insider claims she won’t get it.
“Ana Navarro is angry because she wants Meghan’s job so much, but she’s confident they won’t give her a full-time seat at the table,” they said.
“Ana doesn’t deserve the seat. She is not a Republican in the true sense of the word, all she does is criticize people who voted for Trump.
“We need to hire a Trump Republican to reach more of the available public at home.
“Ana is not the person.”

There is speculation that Sara Haines could also make an exit, leaving two more slots to fill.
“Everyone is convinced that Sara Haines is also on the way. First Wendy Williams announced it on her show and then our staff found out we were talking to Debbie Matenopoulos when they read it in the Daily Mail.
“Debbie would be the perfect replacement for Sara – she’s fun, engaging and says what she thinks. She’s also one of the show’s OGs and it might calm Joy to have her at the table as the show enters its 25th year and returns to the studio.”
‘Sara is such a sweet person but she just doesn’t fit and really doesn’t add anything. We often joke that she could be replaced by a white loaf of bread and the public wouldn’t know the difference.’
“For some reason, ABC has moved Sara from show to show. It’s now time to take her off The View a second time.”
“The worst thing for Sara is that ABC always says, ‘No, it’s not true, we love you’ and then they stab you in the back and you’re gone.
“If you don’t believe me, ask Star Jones, Jenny McCarthy, Elisabeth Hasselbeck, Nicolle Wallace, Michelle Collins, etc etc etc… the list goes on and on and on.”

After DailyMail.com revealed the conversations of Matenopoulos who would be on the show, a spokesperson for Matenopoulos said: “Debbie will always have a dear place in her heart for The View, the show that started her 21-year-old career straight out of NYU .
“Debbie Matenopoulos would be the perfect replacement for Sara – she’s fun, engaging and says what she thinks,” the source said.
“Her rep has indeed had conversations with senior executives at ABC News in recent months about many things, including her participation in the celebration of The View’s 25th season, and appreciates all the interest in her return.
“Currently she’s in development for two food shows and her own lifestyle show, but she’d never say never to return to her first television home.”
McCain addressed her resignation during the opening segment of The View earlier this month, saying, “I’m going to take the bandage off.”
“This was not an easy decision,” she said. “I’m here to tell you – all my wonderful co-hosts and viewers at home – that this will be my last season here at The View.
“It’s not easy to leave, but I feel like this is the right decision for me at the moment.”
Co-hosts Whoopi Goldberg, Joy Behar, Sara Haines, Sunny Hostin and Ana Navarro were unaware she had resigned prior to the unveiling, a source told DailyMail.com.
The outspoken co-host said she’s built an “incredible life” in Washington, DC after leaving New York City while still pregnant with daughter Liberty during the pandemic.
“When I think about where I want Liberty to take her first steps, her first words – I just have an amazing life here that I ended up feeling like I didn’t want to leave,” she said.
