“It’s also a helpful resource if you have friends or family who have been through baby loss and aren’t sure what to say or how best to support.

‘I experienced this pregnancy very differently from my first. Pregnancy after loss is totally awesome, but the worry is constant. Tommy’s showed me that’s perfectly normal.’

Carrie took to Instagram this summer to reveal she had a miscarriage early in the year that she says left her “heartbroken.”

She said she and her husband Boris are now expecting a rainbow baby – a term for a child born into a family that has previously lost another through stillbirth or death during childhood.

Candid with her more than 5,000 followers, she wrote: Hoping for our rainbow baby this Christmas. At the beginning of the year I had a miscarriage that left me heartbroken.

“I feel incredibly blessed to be pregnant again, but I also felt a sack of nerves. Fertility issues can be very difficult for many people, especially when on platforms like Instagram it seems like everything is just going well.

“It really comforted me to hear from people who have also experienced loss, so I hope sharing this in a very small way can help others as well.”

The announcement came just two months after her marriage to Boris Johnson, when she would have been about two months pregnant.
