Two people were allegedly stabbed by a knife in a popular shopping center in Melbourne.

The attacker allegedly stabbed shoppers at 8 a.m. on Monday at a Coles in Barkly Square Shopping Center on Sydney Road in Brunswick.

Staff were forced to lock themselves in their stores while the attack took place.

“There’s a man running around with a knife and he stabbed a customer in the Coles supermarket,” said one person.

The attacker allegedly stabbed shoppers at 8 a.m. on Monday at a Coles in Barkly Square Shopping Center on Sydney Road in Brunswick.

“All the employees are locked in their different stores,” she said.

Police arrested the man before he was taken to hospital to be treated for self-inflicted injuries.

Two men also had to be taken to hospital for treatment for non-life-threatening injuries.
