Boxing fans flood social media with conspiracy theories claiming Anthony Joshua’s final round was stopped EARLY to avoid AJ being knocked out

  • Rumor has it that Anthony Joshua’s fight has ended early on Saturday
  • AJ was in the final seconds of the fight against Oleksandr Usyk
  • The clock on the screen shows the last nine seconds in just three seconds
  • Usyk was about to take out Joshua and many fans are still suspicious
  • But bell-to-bell, the round lasted three minutes, as Eddie Hearn has since revealed

Online boxing fans insist Anthony Joshua’s fight against Oleksandr Usyk was stopped prematurely and the Briton was on the brink of being knocked out in the 12th round.

AJ suffered his second career loss at Tottenham Hotspur Stadium on Saturday night, with Usyk stunning the boxing world with a decisive and unanimous points victory to become the new heavyweight world champion.

The Ukrainian had an exhausted Joshua against the ropes in the final 30 seconds of the match and what has not gone unnoticed is the discrepancy between the nine seconds on the screen clock and how quickly the fight ended.

As DAZN showed, the final nine seconds seemed – by the clock – to end in just three seconds with Joshua all out at sea and about to be knocked out.

It was quickly noticed by fans online, with a question: ‘Everyone commented that at the end of the 12th round the bell is 7 seconds early, was this to prevent Joshua {sic) from being knocked out?’

Another said: ‘They called 5 seconds before lol saved Anthony Joshua from a knockout in the 12th round’, and another commented to Tottenham’s venue: ‘Is it just me or did the bell ring early in the morning? 12th round?

“It could be a mismatch between the time on the screen and the actual fighting clock, but it seems a bit suspicious, especially in London.”

Joshua’s rival Dilian Whyte also noted the seemingly early stoppage, saying the referee should have stopped the fight iFL TV: ‘I thought Usyk was going to win via TKO in the last round.

“I thought they gave Joshua way too much time.

“He just sat on the ropes, stood there and did nothing. I thought Usyk deserved a TKO win.”

However, after viewing the last round via bell-to-bell, Sports post can confirm that the 12th round lasted three full minutes.

Eddie Hearn, Joshua’s promoter, confirmed after the fight as much as he watched to quash the rumours: “I don’t believe it did, I saw it happen on the DAZN clock, but I specifically remember the ten seconds came and it was ten seconds.

“Because I remember hearing there were ten seconds left, it wasn’t even three seconds after the clock went off, so I don’t believe that was an early bell.

“One for the BBBofC, not for me, but it wasn’t like ‘he’s in trouble here, let’s ring the bell’, again, it’s one for the board, but what I do know is that he was hit by a few shots, but it wasn’t early.’
