Blake Lively honors her family with launch of alcohol-free sparkling mixer Betty Buzz

While her husband Ryan Reynolds has used his famous name and face to help sell the Aviation American Gin brand after buying a stake in the company in 2018, his wife Blake Lively has been hard at work developing a new alcohol-free collection. of sparkling mixers called Betty Buzz.

The business venture is sort of a tribute to her family, especially when it comes to name. In a press release, the actress shared how she wanted to pay tribute to her father Ernie Lively, who passed away last June at the age of 74.

“My father’s name was Ernest Brown Jr., but he was known as Ernie Lively,” explains Lively (née Blake Ellender Brown), 34.

The Gossip Girl actress went on to say about her father, “He gave up his last name when he married my mother and any success he, or I, have had has been in a name that doesn’t belong to him. So when I was working hard building this business, I wanted every success to be in a name that was meaningful to him. Betty was the name of his mother and his sister. Ernie wouldn’t be the best name for a mixer either.’

As for the Buzz portion of the company, Lively revealed it was used ‘because why would alcohol be so much fun? The bubbles and flavors feel like a buzz of joy.’

It also made sense to use Betty in the company name, as she and Reynolds have daughter Betty, who is turning two in October, along with their two other girls James, six, and Inez, four.

The new Betty Buzz product is available in five different flavors: Tonic Water, Sparking Grapefruit, Meyer Lemon Club Soda, Sparkling Lemon Lime and Ginger Beer.

The drinks are made with real juice and come without artificial flavors, colors, sweeteners or gluten.
