In between, Trinny does small facial massages to oxygenate her skin and focuses on lymphatic drainage. She does this with her hands and tools, including gua shas and the AUD$483 NuFace device that reduces wrinkles and tightens sagging skin with micro-currents.

‘I always hit my face, I do a lot of lymphatic drainage. For me it’s about lifting and continuity. If people use things once every two weeks, nothing happens, don’t bother,” she said.

‘I’ve been taking Botox since I was 35. I started it because I had a really, really bad forehead when I started in front of the TV and I have a deep forehead. Botox was still embryonic at the time, but I thought “why not?”. I’m 58 now and that’s why I never got lines on my forehead.’

As for the diet, Trinny gives a stern warning about sugar when it comes to aging and inflammation.

For decades, English style and beauty icon Trinny Woodall has built a legion of fans swooning over her style advice and charismatic DIY tutorials — whether on TV or more recently, social media live streams.

“We’ve had a lot of conversations over the years about alcohol and cigarette smoke and sun and all those different things that have the free radicals running across our faces like an army,” she said.

‘We have only recently started talking about the impact of sugar. If most people have rosacea or pimples or something like that, sugar is a major source of inflammation.

“I want to run 80 up the hill and I want to help women appreciate the whole holistic approach while lowering our sugar levels because the inflammatory markers are at the root of many serious diseases.”

Trinny, who alternates between dark chocolate and apple with peanut butter for after-dinner snacks, said listening to your body is key, as inflammation will show up on a physical level quite quickly.

What are Trinny’s top anti-aging secrets at age 58?

* Reduce sugar as much as you can without depriving yourself of joy – swap ice cream for apple with peanut butter or a stick of good quality dark chocolate

*Have a good skincare routine and stick to it

* Only invest in quality skincare gadgets if you stick to them. Buy them and check them out if you want to see results. Don’t make it a chore and use them on the toilet for five minutes if you’re short on time

* Take marine collagen every day and apply it on your face

* Use makeup with nourishing ingredients that heal your skin while wearing it

* Focus on lymphatic drainage methods on your face, it is excellent for reducing puffiness

*Listen to your body and your skin, it will physically show you if you have inflammation in your body

“As women go through menopause, inflammation is much more noticeable. So when I eat a chocolate full of s**t, my ankles swell because I feel the inflammation. My body tells me not to take the second measure and I listen. It’s not about depriving people of the pleasures of life, it’s about balance.’

Trinny has spent years formulating products for her Trinny London range that are not only effective but nourish the skin at the same time.

The latest addition to the wildly successful beauty line is arguably her most well-received yet, with a new tinted, first-of-its-kind serum hybrid called BFF Rebalance, a game-changer in how women do their makeup.

Formulated with skin-friendly ingredients, the product gives a more matte coverage when worn that doesn’t feel like it’s heavy on the face.

“The Rebalance came from me because I wanted a serum that is truly a skincare hybrid. It has to be full of actives or else you shouldn’t market yourself inappropriately — that’s my challenge to the industry,” Trinny said.

“It was about having niacinamide which I knew would be really good — it’s B family, it helps with breakouts, it helps reduce inflammation around blemishes, and it’s a fantastic vitamin.”

The product also contains noni bioactives and chlorella vulgaris extract to control blemishes, balance shine and prevent future congestion.

“We spend a lot of time looking at products that are good for the skin when you put them on. We can't compare ourselves to the brands that fill up on gorgeous glamorous Hollywood makeup — I don't feel like we're in that era right now,

Chlorella vulgaris is a marine probiotic. We know about gut health and how much it causes congestion on our skin and if more people took marine prebiotics their skin would be much better. So to put that on our skin is excellent,’ said Trinny.

“I wanted a formula that would help skin that was quite oily or congested and then I wanted to add pigment. I wanted the pigment to be very finely ground and I don’t want it to compromise the integrity of the ingredients and I wanted to get coverage that doesn’t settle on the skin.”

And it looks like she’s done just that, with the serum already getting rave reviews around the world.

“We want to be the best we can be. That’s the woman we’re talking to.’
