Bachelorette’s Jarrod Woodgate reveals battle with mental illness as he thanks girlfriend Sam Royce for helping him through ‘tough times’










Jarrod Woodgate detailed his battle with mental illness on Tuesday in an open letter to his girlfriend Sam Royce on Instagram.

The 36-year-old Bachelorette alum revealed he suffered from “PTSD, anxiety and depression,” thanking Sam for his support.

“Dear Sam, I have been unable to recognize myself for the past six months because of intense medication for my PTSD, anxiety and depression,” he began.

‘The side affects’ [sic] what you and I have both been through because of my mental health has been so overwhelming and demanding.

‘These include no sex drive, no emotion, no sympathy, no understanding, no patience, no happiness, no inspiration and no love!

“This makes me so sad that this was the person I had become, and writing this makes me cry. I apologize.’

But Jarrod said he felt much better since he stopped taking his medication.

“Two weeks off my medication and it makes me respect, understand and appreciate everything you’ve done for me since I met you in Bali,” he continued.

“Honey, you are amazing, incredible and the best thing that happened to me in my 36 year life.

“Dear Sam, I have not been able to recognize myself for the past six months because of intense medication for my PTSD, anxiety and depression,” he began.

“Thank you for being a supportive friend and a huge shout out to those who have experienced or are currently experiencing mental health hurdles in life.”

Jarrod then spoke about the importance of a good support network and urged others with their mental health to seek help.

“This is real and as much as we’d like to deny that anything is wrong, there’s no harm in seeking help,” he added.

“Honey, you are amazing, incredible and the best thing that happened to me in my 36 year life,” he wrote.

“Sorry for the massive post but I want @samroyceee to know she’s everything to me and I want others to know we can all get through this together with the right support.”

He added: “I love you my beautiful girl and thank you for helping me through my difficult times.”
