An Australian woman has been forced to put her new umbrella up for sale after neighbors complained that it hangs too far over the fence between their properties.

The listing for the large market umbrella was posted on a “sell your stuff” Facebook group on Friday.

“Our neighbors have complained that our beautiful new umbrella hangs over our fence in an instant and have asked us to get rid of it,” the ad wrote.

“Since we can’t put it anywhere else, we have to sell.”

Two images accompany the frame, showing the black and white striped umbrella on a table in a small courtyard.

Although the umbrella is quite large, it hardly seems to bother the neighbor’s fence, causing fellow Facebook users to express their dissatisfaction on behalf of the seller.

Many have sent her ideas to solve the problem without having to sell her brand new umbrella.

“Your neighbor sounds like a sissy,” one wrote. “If you lower the pendulum a little, it shrinks a little.”

“Away with the neighbors,” said another. “I hope there aren’t any weeds coming through the bottom of your fence. Your neighbors should get a life.’

“Sew some leaves on the end and pretend it’s a tree,” someone commented.

Some commenters were more sympathetic to her neighbors.

“I can understand their concerns. It has a large area and if it rains there would be quite a bit of runoff. What a shame you didn’t measure it first,” wrote one.

“They (the woman) can’t even put all the chairs around the table with that umbrella, even if they move it closer to the house,” said one dubious user. “Maybe it wouldn’t have been a problem if they’d measured the space well in advance.”
