If you don’t think the GOP is concerned about evicting Trump voters to vote, all you need to do is look at the Virginia gubernatorial race. There, Republican nominee Glenn Youngkin is running a two-pronged campaign, presenting himself as a traditional Republican to Virginia’s mainstream voters, but carefully contacting Trump’s grassroots through more muted channels. One such effort, an appearance on former Trump adviser Seb Gorka’s radio show, was mentioned this week in an ad by the anti-Trump group the Lincoln Project. But otherwise, Youngkin has “danced on the edge of a razor,” in the evocative terms of a Trump campaign aide, balancing between the two worlds of the GOP.
