Alejandro Mayorkas’ wife clashed with protesters outside their DC home on Monday as they hung up a 30-foot banner chanting accusations that the Biden administration is carrying out Trump’s immigration policies.

“We spoke briefly with the wife of DHS Secretary Mayorkas,” Never Again Action, a Jewish anti-immigration and customs enforcement (ICE) organization posted on Twitter. “She was very angry and told us that this was her childhood home.”

“And we really understand that,” they continued in a Twitter thread on Monday. “But again, families are being torn apart every day. There are people who are deported from their homes forever, every day.’

They include a video of Tanya Mayorkas walking away with her dog on a leash, along with what appears to be a plainclothes security guard.

“We know that doing a campaign in someone’s home can make things personal and involve families,” Never Again tweeted. “But our primary responsibility is for the personal trauma and families torn apart by Trump’s policies that the Biden administration continues to use against immigrants.”

The group protested recent deportation efforts on the southern border by covering the residence of Secretary of Homeland Security, Mayorkas, DC, with a banner that read, “Biden President Trump Policy.”

‘We’ve just been covered’ [Mayorkas’] house with a 10-meter high banner, telling the truth: in terms of immigration, the Biden presidency is a continuation of Trump policy,” the group wrote on Twitter.

Along with the post was an image of the silver banner in red letters that contained the hashtag “#KeepYourPromises.”

They said their aim in the banner and chanting outside his home is to “impossibly ignore” the deportation of illegal immigrants. They also admitted to defrauding Mayorkas by revealing to some of his neighbors that the man in charge of ICE and Border Patrol lived there.

Never Again Action, a Jewish anti-ICE group, on Monday hung a 30-foot silver banner on the home of DHS Secretary Alejandro Mayorkas in protest at the recent series of deportations of illegal Haitian immigrants by the Biden administration.

Never Again Action protests across the country aiming at the total abolition of ICE. The group takes its name from the slogan ‘never again’, which is most often used in reference to the Holocaust.

Biden pledged to dismantle Trump’s brutal immigration system and replace it with one that is ‘fair and humane’. Instead, his admin is doubling down on Trump’s policies and tactics of fear. That’s exactly what we all voted against,” the organization wrote on Twitter.

The protest is a direct response to images coming from the border as DHS ramps up its deportation of illegal immigrants and asylum seekers. A group of about 15,000 mostly Haitian migrants set up camp this month near the Del Rio International Bridge in Texas, prompting the Biden administration to ramp up removal efforts.

Since last Sunday, several deportation flights have gone from the US to Haiti. But what upsets most people is the images of Border Police officers on horseback who appear to be using the reins as whips for migrants.

The officers insist that they only used the split reins to direct their horses and argue with the migrants, but not to whip them.

When the Secret Service showed up, the group said their goal was to make noise and make sure they make the “deportation crisis… impossible to ignore.”

A video from Monday outside the secretary’s home was heard from a group member behind the camera saying they hold Biden and Mayorkas accountable for the promises they break at the border.

“Secretary Mayorkas has the power to do two things,” they continued. ‘1. Cancel Trump’s Border Policy 2. Cancel Trump’s ICE Contracts’.

By upsetting Ms Mayorkas and causing a stir, the group said this was the aim of the protest.

“Secret service everywhere in DHS Secretary Mayorkas’s house,” they wrote. “This was our goal: to make the deportation crisis, on the border and in our communities, impossible to ignore.”

The tweet added: “If the Biden administrator thinks they can keep Trump’s policies AND keep it quiet… they are very wrong.”

“We spoke to many neighbors who were unaware that they live next door to the man in charge of ICE & Border Patrol,” they added. “Most of them have really supported me by saying things like ‘this is not what I voted for.’ One man was really angry. He kept repeating ‘but it’s his house’.

A link in the Twitter thread leads to a page titled “Cancel Trump’s Immigration Policies” prompting people to sign the petition.

Joe Biden promised his administration would end Trump’s reign of terror against immigrants. He promised to make the immigration system ‘fair and humane’. The scars we saw last week showed the truth about these broken promises,” reads a message attached to the petition.

“From violently deporting refugees at the border to keeping ICE in our communities, Biden’s presidency was a continuation of Trump’s immigration policies,” she added.

‘It has to stop. We have to stop it.’

DHS Secretary Mayorkas oversees border patrol and ICE. He is the one with the power to reverse this Trump policy and stop enforcing Trump’s immigration agenda,” Never Again Action claimed. “So we call on Mayorkas to keep the promises made and do two things: cancel Trump’s border policy and cancel Trump’s ICE contracts.”

They explained that canceling the Trump order policy would lead to the termination of “Title 42,” a tool used by the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention during public health emergencies and currently used to to allow for more streamlined deportation to further the coronavirus pandemic through migration to the southern border.

By canceling ICE contracts, the Never Again Action is trying to stop cooperation between the Immigration Service and the local police, which could lead to more deportations when illegal status is reported.
