A 17-year-old boy has been arrested after a 15-year-old girl reported being pulled into the sea and raped on a Bournemouth beach.
The boy, from Warwickshire, was arrested on suspicion of rape after making a public appeal and releasing an e-fit on BBC One’s Crimewatch Live.
Police said he is “helping detectives with their investigation” into the shocking incident, which reportedly happened around 3:30 p.m. on July 18.
The victim was playing with a ball with her friends when it landed in front of a teenage boy.
He threw it back but began talking to the schoolgirl before reportedly pulling her into deeper water near Bournemouth Pier, Dorset.
Despite crowds of people in the water and on the pier, the young man allegedly raped the girl under the cover of the water.
The attacker allegedly told his victim that he was 17 years old and had traveled to the Dorset coast from Birmingham.

The girl later reported the shocking attack to the police, who called for people taking photos and videos around the pier.
A Dorset Police spokesman said: ‘Detectives investigating the reported rape of a teenage girl on Bournemouth beach have arrested a teenage boy.
It was reported that on Sunday, July 18, 2021, around 4 p.m., a 15-year-old girl was with friends in the sea at the Oceanarium when she began talking to a teenage boy.
‘The boy would have pulled her deeper into the sea, where he would have raped her.
Dorset Police Department Major Crime Investigation Team (MCIT) detectives have launched an investigation into the incident.
“Following investigations, including an e-fit appeal and a call on the BBC One show Crimewatch Live, a 17-year-old boy from the Warwickshire area has been arrested on suspicion of rape and is assisting detectives in their investigation.”
Detective Inspector Wayne Seymour, of MCIT, previously said the police had “obtained forensic evidence,” meaning “we will be able to remove anyone who was not involved from our investigation.”
